Description
I'm a New Yorker at heart, despite growing up outside of the city and living in Washington for more than a decade.
But I'm also a night-owl, attending or working up to 200 shows in a given year. So when visiting the city for a brief moment, for the first time since the pandemic, and friends insisted we walk through Central Park at sunrise (merely six hours from the time of suggestion) I thought they were mad. But we did, and watching the clouds part and darkness fade within this urban oasis was stunning, and silent. On our walk we hardly encountered anyone, until we came upon a jogger and her dog. The sound of her speed-boosted footsteps cut through the chirping of birds as her companion ran ahead with an occasional bark, creating a unique Dawn Chorus that only Central Park could.
